McDonalds hits the spot

18^th November 2003

We have safely arrived in Chengdu by way of a 10 hour bus which we got on at 6.00 this morning (had to get up at 5am!). We are happy to be here, we have our own double room with our own CLEAN bathroom with a LOVELY hot water shower (first one in 4 days and Lee shaved for the first time in 2 weeks).

We went to McDonalds for dinner and got a Big Mac combo each, but still didn't feel satisfied so we got another Big Mac and a chocolate sundae each. For the first time in our lives we walked out of McDonalds feeling better then when we went in. It's good to have a full tummy.

We're probably going to chill here for a couple of days before heading south. Haven't quite yet decided what route we'll take to get to Vietnam, either through Nanning or Kunming.

Tomorrow we're going to see the pandas. This involves getting up at 7am as apparently they feed in the morning and then go to sleep. So better get some sleep soon as another early morning is going to be hard.

Then the day after we're going to hire a dvd player for the day and hook it up to the tv in our room and hire some dvds. It costs about 30c NZ per DVD. It will be nice to chill out.

There are also lots of foreigners here which we've decided we need at the moment. It's fun to forget where you are for a while and just hang out with likeminded souls like we did in Xiahe. Unfortunately we managed to lose Liu in Songpan which is a bit of a bummer.
