A local Doctor's Surgery

A Case Study

Creating a workable system within the NHS constraints!

A local doctors surgery had been having serious problems with their system originally set up in the last century (Great line been wanting to use that for ages!), A mix of Windows 95, 98, and NT machines with a twin processor NT 4.0 server!
A plan of action was created whereby a spare machine was used and a proper functional NT 4.0 network was built over a period of time, one system at a time, thus building staff confidence in the system (which was somewhere between low and non existent).
The doctors, finding their new roaming profiles meant they could use any surgery and still have their own desktop, therefore their own notes, 'My Documents areas' e-mail etc were more than happy. Adding a login for Locums (visiting doctors) added a further level of security to the system.
