A Case Study

A reluctant modernisation, becoming a real joy!

As a registered charity EDDAAS have been in existence for well over 30 years.

Growing from small beginnings to a current staffing level of more than 35 act as the core project co-ordinators for a growing number of initiatives. EDDAAS found the need both to improve their web-image, and computing systems.

We have initially built them a simple, corporate style site, with multiple sub-sites, with in a simple cost effective framework that can be expanded upon as their various initiatives change and grow.

Installing a network and ADSL broadband at the Bournemouth offices improved efficiency greatly:

  • Supplying e-mail to each desk significantly reduced the amount of paperwork, and time in handling information.
  • Re-directing major print jobs to the main laser printer from individual's machines, rather than copying to disc, or printing on personal printer is both saving time and reducing consumable costs.
  • Use of Messenger to pass quick messages or to check phone availability of others.
  • Fast browsing of the Internet for research and reference information.

Already we have expanded the initial network, and now repeated the exercise at the Poole office.
This time however, installing a 2003 server and a number of new workstations all built to our specifications by a local company. As these were all new machines, we arranged for reduced cost Microsoft licensing available for charities, a significant 4 figure saving!
