Where is Pokesdown?

Pokesdown is part of the Bournemouth conurbation situated on the south coast of England a few miles to the west of Southampton. Situated midway between Christchurch and Bournemouth, Pokesdown as a village has all but been swallowed up by the two towns.
Other surrounding towns in the area include Ringwood, New Milton, Poole and Salisbury.

What is Pokesdown?

Not much is left now of the original village, just Cromwell Hall, the Technical college building, Pokesdown Railway station (on the Poole - London line) and of course St. James, the parish church. The brewery and bakery are now private houses, and many residents that live in the old urban district of Pokesdown think they live in Southbourne!
